If you have players who are serious about getting better, I am the coach for them. I won on the Web.com tour and played the PGA tour without winning a college golf tournament.

Jim’s Teaching Philosophy

Jim’s teaching philosophy encompasses a holistic approach that focuses on improvement of performance by addressing such factors such as a physical assessment, a skills assessment, mental approach, and course management. Jim believes that a player should swing according to their body type rather than fighting natural tendencies. He identifies the source of an individual’s physical power and consistency based on each body type, and identifies physical limitations. He can then provide instruction on how to improve elements of strength and flexibility that allow the mechanics of the golf swing to be applied more easily. Jim’s goal is to motivate each student to get results on the course.

Low Club Professional at Senior PGA

Local instructor Jim Estes finishes as low club professional at Senior PGA

Jim Estes came to the Senior PGA Championship last week having last competed on tour in 2000 and, as a full-time instructor at Olney golf park, a little out of practice. The Germantown resident had hit only a bucket of balls on the range before teeing off in the most storied of the five majors on the PGA Tour Champions.

But soon enough the competitive fire began settling in, as did Estes’s swing at Trump National golf club in Sterling. The result was a final-round 2-under-par 70 to finish as the low club professional Sunday.

Estes’s 72-hole total of 2-over 290 led four other club pros who made the cut and also was ahead of such major champions as Jeff Sluman, Ian Woosnam and Corey Pavin.

Jim Estes has helped me tremendously over the last couple of years. I started with him as a 9 and got down to a 1.9 handicap at the end of last summer. We have worked together to make my swing more consistent and have sharpened my short game. Jim helped me gain a lot of confidence and encouraged me to start playing in tournaments. I joined Golf Channel’s DC tour and won six events last year! I also had my lowest tournament round, a 72 (twice), and was invited to the tour’s national championships. Also won a VSGA event too. I must say Jim has also been a great role model. His endless work with the veterans has been inspiring. Thanks for everything, Jim! ~ Dominic Lee
